Management of Distal Tibial Intra-Articular Fractures by Using Ring External Fixators Assisted Arthroscopically

Background: Tibial pilon fractures are relatively uncommon injuries, representing only 1% of all the lower limb and 5% to 10% those tibia. Frequent comminution thin soft-tissue envelope in area make treatment these challenging. The tibial is characterised by a total absence muscle coverage marginal vascularity. Therefore, even moderate trauma often results extensive damage. Objective: aim this present study was evaluate arthroscopic assisted (Ilizarov) ring external fixation distal intra articular (pilon) fractures. Patients methods: This prospective conducted between February 2012, April 2015 on thirty patients with closed, Gustilo Types I & II open tibia who were admitted Zagazig University Hospitals. During period two years, cases treated Ilizarov fixators or without limited internal assessment intra-articular reduction plafond arthroscopy.
